History

HistoryRKW Finland's history as a packaging manufacturer goes back to the 1920s, when the Rosenlew family company began producing paper sacks. Production of packaging began to grow rapidly in the 1960s with the introduction of plastic sacks.

In the 1970s and 1980s Rosenlew became one of the largest packaging companies in Europe. Its main products were plastic sacks, flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), sacks and bags for retail use and a range of packaging films.

The history of Rosenlew as a family owned company ended in 1987, when Rosenlew was sold to Rauma-Repola. Subsequently, Rauma-Repola was merged and the larger group became UPM-Kymmene Corp.

From the beginning of January 2001 Rosenlew’s Pori factory has been a part of the RKW-group (RKW SE). RKW’s entire business is based on plastic films and flexible packaging. This step will create new possibilities for us to meet even the most challenging requirements of our customers.
